im curious to ask why the best players on gr, are playing the easiest civs to play!

icourt has touched on how hard a souix is to play 1v1 and mentioned up civs, my question is why is it that our best on here such as basher and deathboy, tkd arent spending there time leaning the lesser played civs??

i actually respected the fact that mr love would play various civs in 1v1 battles ( and whip me still ) as opposed to the lads i just mentioned, who i think would also beat me often with worse civs, but seem content with laming that same old strats. icourts another player who doesnt pick out the lame in a civ and use it to his best abitlity. he likes to earn that win and i respect that alot.

my point is that i think people wouldnt see some civs as up, if the better players in this game were showing us that they can be used very well, wheres the satisfaction in a good player playing a powerful civ, proven strat and winning??

tk? cuz of china? i believe only the chinese FF is called OP, dont really mind bout it but as far as i know he doesnt lame it, he manages to kick ass in colo.

and maybe "our best" are "our best" because they play those civs.

or maybe its just that for other civs there are no VODs they could copy. hehe

:D

I agree with the VOD problem. I remember someone trying the Sioux Semi FF vs me. I chuckled a bit, tried to do exactly what I did against me.

seeing as im 90% sure youre also referring to me, due to that 4 game set where i played france vs a few different civs and won all 4, i think i can answer this.

first of all, in my case, i simply dont have time to learn to play the civs that are below upper tier (that is, i only have time to play upper tier + OP civs); while i could play most civs, given the time to learn them, my days are very very full; 5 high honors majors, 3-4 hrs of guitar to practice every day, so i cant even play on the weekdays usually. therefore, to stay on top (as we all like doing ^.^), i play the stronger civs.

second, a lot of players just want to win a lot, which is probably the most prevalent reason. this partially describes me, im not gonna lie, i lost so many times before i got good (i was probably a noob for a full year before i got into legion and got good), i really dislike it hehe, although its more the first reason in my case.

third, in the case of france specifically (since imo its the most abused OP civ), france is very good civ to play if you want to branch out and learn other civs, so some players play them and get them really good, and THEN learn other civs; love legion was like that. thats actually what im doing atm.

im gonna be trying to learn a few weaker civs after france, probably germany and ports, and maybe spain, so dutch and french wont be my only civs :)

thanks for the post, it was a good one

I just like challenging myself. I could lame a civ, I could play only play one civ, and I could play OP civs, but what's the point? To keep my win streak high? I've already proven myself to be a strong adaptable player. I may lose some games, win some others, but when it comes down to it, I just play the civs I have an interest in. They just happen to be rather weak civs.

If you only play France, it doesn't make you any worse of a player, you just are manipulating the game the way it's meant to be. Playing the game is what counts. You get better at it, even if you lame. How much you learn from those experiences however is debatable.

lol! once again mag im gonna embarrass you by saying NO im not talking about you. why would i be talking about you?? i clearly say who i am talking about..... the fact that youve played france 100 % over the last mont or so and finnaly managed to beat me again means nothing to me. ive beat you down so often that it makes me laugh that you have to play only one civ in order to beat me.

stop embarrassing yourself by assuming people are talking about you when reffering to good players because... you havent proven yourself yet in any tourneys.

Well Borgie, I see where your comin from. But heres my "rebuttle."

1) I play, France, Spain, British, Japanese, Portuguese, German, Some Chinese, and I have recently been playing India a lot.

2) The main reason that I play France so much, and TKD plays china so much, is that in our opinion they are the most fun. French can do anything, and China are just insane.

3) Im learning INDIA so ill whoop you with your own civ... Except the first 15 games i played i didnt know i didnt have to build a house for the villager from first card XD

Exactly my point. I play Sioux because I find them fun, they just happen to be really weak. If they were OP I still would probably play them, just because I like them a lot.

"[...] tkd arent spending there time leaning the lesser played civs??"

I used to play russia, then germany, then other civs. i didnt always play china when tad came out. china was a lesser played civ and thats exactly why i chose them.  asking me why i dont play lesser civs is a bit late of a question when ive done just that with china and have since then refined it to what u see now.  ive also explored new/unexplored strategies, like using advanced wonders in age 1 to speed up age time or to make flames in team games.

why havent i moved on to another civ now that china is good enough? it's just fun. with the consulates tad civs get, the more various units china has integrated in the army production, the tad civs' wonders with their bonuses and coolness :P, and just the fact that it's newer than the vanilla civs, all of this adds up to make china simply more interesting to me aesthetically.  It's fun and cool. oh and the explorers too.

The euro civs are just bland to me..Most share units with one another like crossbows, muskets, hand cavalry, ranged cavalry, and pikes.  They generally follow similar standards for unit design and mechanics, whereas the expansions made by ensemble actually expand creatively to give each tad and twc civs completely unique units from one twc civ or tad civ to the next.

Im bored of euro
