... but its time i moved on from aoe3. ive had a great load of fun playing with all of you, even those of you who ive occasionally pissed off / angered (gabe voz and borgs im looking at you ;)), and its fair to say that this past half a year, maybe not solely because of aoe3 but certainly due in part to it, was probably my favourite period of my life thus far. ive improved more than i ever thought was possible when i started a year and a half ago, when i was just an average noob, probably worse, actually.

however, life is busy these days. im in two bands, a jazz combo, im a very highly ranked classical guitarist, in all high honors classes at my high school, and ive got a girlfriend taking up (a significant portion of) my time. some days i simply dont have any time to play, and i in fact nearly NEVER have time to play on the weekdays, and when i do play, its not for very long, maybe 2-3 hours a day on the weekends, at the very most.

aoe3 helped me get through a difficult time for me, as weird as that sounds; it was the only place last year where i knew most people accepted me, until i got to this year, where people who matter finally understand me for who i am. as pissy as ive gotten, and as pissy as ive made people at times, i still dont know a single person on GR whom i would consider my enemy. on that topic, id like to apologize to voz for a few asshole ish posts ive made about him, gabe for the obvious reasons, and anyone else that ive made mad at me.

on an ending note, id like to encourage players to do 2 things - try to teach other players not only skill but correct attitude, and play more 1v1s. the second one is obvious, im almost exclusively a 1v1er, and playing 1v1s catapaulted my skill level, at least with my dutch, to a point where i can now play a fair amount of civs very well. they simply are the best way to learn the game. the first one is more important, and players dont do it often enough. ive been trying to tell players who arent as familiar with our 'etiquette,' so to speak, how to fit in more, because they might be a valuable member of our community that we just arent aware of yet. if you meet a new player who is a little rude or clueless, dont just say 'lulnub' and kick him, help him out. it wouldve made my transition to the 'in-crowd (haha)' , since we didnt have the FP back then, a lot easier.

ill still probably drop by every once in a while for a game or two, i still find the game incredibly fun after all this time, its just i dont have nearly as much time as i used to.

gg, and signing off for now,

maggers

Bye Mag. Nice playing with ya. I'm pretty busy now too so I see where you're coming from. Hopefully you're just "postponing" your play time. AOE is cyclical... so others like you also decrease play time heavily during the school year with the outcome of greater gameplay in the summer. Good luck with those honors classes, wedge in a few APs here and there since you seem capable of that... its beyond useful in college as it frees up so much time for you can than avoid core classes and actually do what you're passionate about.

Yo man, best of luck with high school! It can be a very fun time if you really just be yourself and make friends for the right reasons. Sorry to hear you had a tough first year - I promise it gets better!

As Voz said, challenge yourself with classes - even if music seems like your first passion right now. You'll want to be competitive when it comes around to college application time, and even if you have pretty selfless goal in mind you'll still need to prove that you can run with the big dogs.

Godspeed and see you around sometime.

Why do you all need to go dramatic when you gonna stop playing and say: "I won't! I won't play this game EVER again! I'm leaving… farewell my friends!".

Personally when i stop playing a game it's progressive. I have less time, I play less and less… to near 0 games. But I will never "forbid" myself to play one more game if  for exemple one day I am bored and have some time. It bring back to me good memories… And sometimes i even restart to play it more.
