alright guys, this is actually it. i've played my last game on GR, and ive been online for the last time. you will never see the friend [GaG] Magnificen† (well, i was _PinkFloyd_ last time i logged on cuz i was playing nilla) online again. i uninstalled every game, deleted everything on my computer that had to do with aoe3, and broke my nilla disc. as much as i regret this now, im sure i wouldve regretted NOT doing it more later, since it was really starting to take over my life. it was just getting in the way of school and, more importantly, guitar. im just getting too old/busy to keep this up, as much as id enjoy it. i found myself thinking about aoe3 instead of my girlfriend or guitar, which really bothered me, so i had to take such drastic actions as breaking my disc. if yall want my advice on how to succeed in aoe3 (not that im hastings or anything) before i leave, here it is: 1. watch vods. vods show you how good players play. its not about the strat (other than the way it relates to your opponents strat), its about the way the strat is pulled off. that means things like villie micro, army micro, raiding, etc. you get this only by watching better people play. when i was at my top (back when i was a dutch lamer :P) i was watching a vod every day, even if id already seen it. 2. pick a civ and STICK WITH IT! having taken a civ all the way to having mastered it myself (dutch), i can tell you that there are 5 stages that one goes through learning a civ. the first one is initial success. the first few games you play with a civ are generally pretty successful. idk why, so dont ask me, but every time i would pick up a civ, id play 4-5 really good games. id usually lose them because i didnt know the civ very well, but id just play really really well. second is a stage where you lose. a lot. like a LOT. you will lose most of your games at this point, and it can last a wide range of lengths, anywhere from 20 or so games to even 50 games. with my dutch, i was probably in this area for a good 40 games. during this stage, you need to learn as much as you can from your mistakes, and most importantly, this is the time your strats develop. take care to learn the correct ways to do strats at this point, since its very hard to change them after this point. after this comes a point where youre winning quite a few games, but losing a good amount too. at this point, youre usually considered 'good' at the civ. for me, this lasted for probably about 60 games? i dont know, its hard to tell. mightve been more. after this, you lose every single one of your games. every. single. one. its frustrating as hell, and this is the time when players feel like the civ 'isnt their civ' or feel like they just suck at aoe3. play through it! keep playing as many games as possible, because once you work through it in 40 or so games, you finally have mastered the civ. it takes a LONG TIME to get a civ to its full potential, but its necessary. doing this process exactly with dutch got me from a point where none of you knew me at all to a point where i was giving hastings a tough time. 3. this is something we all know, but very few of us actually do correctly. CONSTANT VILLES! CONSTANT! CONSTANT! CONSTANT! CONSTANT! i cant TELL you how many people i played in my career as an aoe3 player who didnt keep constant villes, but when i told them at the end theyre like 'oh, i know.' constant means CONSTANT! it doesnt mean constant for the first three minutes of age 2! or even the first 6 minutes! it means CONSTANT! you should ALWAYS, at EVERY POINT IN THE GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE THE MAX AMOUNT OF VILLES YOU WANT HAVE A VILLE COMING OUT OF THE TC! its so important! seriously, itll put you MILES ahead of an opponent who has just 'constant' villes. if you need to know one thing about aoe3, its this. phew. that was a good 15 minutes of typing. alright guys, its been really great, some of you ill really regret leaving behind (somebody tell dust im talking bout him), but its gotta be that way, so gl in life, i hope you have many more gg's without me and maybe ill check in every once in a while. long live [£eg¡øn], signing out, Magnificen† | |

The sad truth is, succeeding in aoe3 automatically means failing at RL. So I don't encourage it anymore.
Anyway, I'm proud of ya boy! Better wo work on useful talents, and I bet a lot of people would envy you for your guitar skills! Take care mate! If you ever become famous you gotta call yourself magnificent as your artist name, so I'll know it's you

wtf? i think this game sucks and still log on every day! why cant u guys just actually have fun at the game and just play once in a while? you are the third good player who is leaving of such a little couple skilled players.. why? play one or two games at the weekend, thats it! but if ur really serious, good luck at rl and make something out of your self! hf with what ever your doin, and of course, cya | |

sorry one more thing: not every civ needs constant vill spamming, just like brits.. if you want to do a fast and strong rush, i succesd not building villagers, it keeps yourself from spamming at early time, but i guess thats only for 1v1 and against none- turtle civs.. is that any right hastings..? ^^ but yeah, anything over 1v1 for sure. again, hf in real life, skyocaro | |

i broke my discs dude, i couldnt come back if i wanted to ^^ haha thx hastings, yeah im glad i finally quit, i was thinking about breaking my discs for a long time, then i just woke up one morning and was like 'fuck it' and broke them | |

hey if you wanted to get out of your aoe3 addiction you should simply buy a ps3 and get addicted to that (but don't buy mw2 that game is crap). or drugs they can be quite addicting as well. anyway good luck. now i don't have anybody else here to hate on hiphop/rap though you dick | |

what if aoe4 comes out? will ya play that? come on....you cant resist. Robot Entertainment is announcing what they have been working on in the next month or so, im sure one of the games will be aoe4 or something related to aoe. | |
