Ok this a basic russian rush for those of you who are not familiar with the civ. Send Villagers to different crates as you need 270 food, then as soon as you have enough meat for your 1st batch of villagers send 4 villagers away 2 collect meat (send towards TC if not on an asian map) use the other villager to collect the wood crate. Once you have 100 wood build a house asap and collect the rest of the meat crates. So you can start your second batch of villagers. Your 1st card should be the wood trickle card Age with 14 villagers and use the 400 wood age up. I like to put 2 on the remaining crates and then to gold, send 2 away to make a FB and another on wood. The rest on meat. So that should be: 2 Gold 3 Wood(2 on FB) 9 Meat A soon as you have 250 wood build the blockhouse. Once you have aged train 10 strels or 5 musks (depending on who you are playing) and then ship your 2nd shipment (i suggest 5 cossaks) Collect wood and make 3 houses. Then raid with cossacks and train 5 musks or 10 strels and push. Have cossacks ready incase there is a lot of LI From there you decide what is best, Boom or keep up the attack. hm, i prefer to do all that except when aging, i usually put all on wood till i get 250, that way its faster, i also like the 17 vill age up unless i am playing some fast aging civ. | |

Limited Member Posts: 80 | I put some of the vill on wood if the map on starts with 100 wood to get that blockhouse up faster. With the 17 vill thing i only use that if i am not going for a rush as speed with russia helps catch your opponent off guard. If you guys would post your own strats it would be really helpful and interesting. | |

It's never a good idea to do 17 vills in a 1v1, since you are almost always going to get rushed (or ffed, but still), and you can't really waste that extra minute or so. Unless you're turtling, go 14 vills. | |

Also, just throwing this out there, the Russians have a SICK boom/turtle for team games, I used to do it and it worked FABULOUSLY, I just forgot the BO | |

Well for booming with Russians that's simple, go Fortress asap, 3 TC, sent medicine, and then u get villies 9 by 9 and reach 99 in no time. No faster villie prod in the game excepted estates and fertility dance. | |

hmmmmm... very interesting. Wrath. in vanilla of course u cant send the wood trickle card. so u would send 300 wood. am i correct? i do that in vanilla sometimes and it always pwns like crazy. i usually attack at like 5:20 with about 23 strels(which i use for shooting villes and musks and pikes) and 5 cossacks for raiding. then i pull back. create 10 musks and push him outa the game. i have won 1v1's 2v1's and 2v3's with this strat because of the super fast rush. i would upload the whole strat to this site but i am not going to because i can never choose a set build order. i just think about things like. how many starting creates(and which types of rec) and i really just play as it goes but i think i have never lost a 1v1 using this(remember i have only been playing with it in nilla bc i dont like it with the fanpatch. if u ever want to 1v1 this strat pm me but dont be surprised if i switch it up a bit during our game. | |

imo this rush works better in tad. yes you lose the 1 cossack but you get the equivalent of 2.5 villes which serve the purpose that 300 wood would serve anyway, while also keeping your eco up to par with an opponent if you have been harassing well. native i think your nilla wins have more to do with the avg gameplay level at nilla, no offense, im pretty sure most higher level players in TAD/TWC + FP could beat that rush. the first card for the russia rush in nilla is debatable, i remember saving my first shipment and making 2 houses upon ageup, shipping 5 cossacks, making 10 strels, shipping 4 cossacks, making a house, making 10 strels, then winning ^.^ however, russia doesnt need to be a rush civ. as icourt has demonstrated to me (in a wtfpwn win for him), the russian contain ( without rushing) can be quite effective, especially against gold heavy civs (like dutch :(). what he did was he went musket cossack and jsut kept me off of all mines but my initial one, and that worked for him quite well. i dont see why that one wouldnt work in nilla, and itd prolly be more effective than the 300 wood rush. | |

First shipment in vanilla for russians is almost always 300 wood for 1v1. In team games you can try sending TEAM Furrier, since you're not as wood starved in most team games. Also, the rush you posted Native is easy as hell to stop. A hussar start will beat it, a 10 musket/longbow start can beat it, CM card can beat it, and in most cases an FF can beat it. Problem is you don't have much of an eco if you're aging with 14 villagers, you're setting yourself up for a win all, lose all scenario. 17 villager age up is about a minute slower, but you can mass more units, and keep villager production constant, and go cossack, and infantry immediately upon age up. | |

dude. the rush i posted was only going up to 5:45 seconds with 23 strel 9 cossack and 10 musket. if u go lbmusk i will raid the crap outa u and then go all strelet and cossack if u go hussar. i will raid the mines as someone said b4 and i would go all musk the thing i love about my rush is that its very flexible but i also understand what u are saying and will put it into consideration at fixing my rush. thank you very much. | |

First age with 17 villagers. 14 is faster but you can't keep a constant production of cossacks and villagers if you do. I mean 5 cossacks every batch continuously, as well as villagers. First shipment is wood trickle (300 wood vanilla). Age with 400 wood as always. Next while aging get all the colonial market techs. As soon as you age build a stable, two houses, and research the second hunting tech. 1-2 villagers on wood (3 in vanilla), 5 on gold, rest on food. Second shipment is 4 cossacks (5 Cossacks in vanilla). Your first batch of villagers after aging will be set to gold, giving you 8. From there you will need to wing it depending on the resources you require. As soon as the stable is built que up 5 cossacks. Your third shipment will either be 4 cossacks or 13 strets from here. You get a continuous production of villagers and cossacks from this point out. It's an amazing strategy in team games, considering you get 10 cossacks out by the time any other civ has 5-8 hussars out, and I'd only recommend a russian cavalry start in a team game. You'll lose vs any decent player that sees a stable and no blockhouse very quickly. Some key things to remember is to keep villager production constant, always grab that second hunting upgrade otherwise you will be short on food, and finally adjust your economy with treasures. For example, if you pick up a 150 gold treasure, move a villager to wood or food to get a blockhouse or the second gold tech researched. Adapt people, this strategy is extremely flexible after 8 minutes, it's not a cookie cut build order!!! | |

Well there are 1v1 games I posted at age sanctuary where I do a 17 villager age up and have constant villager production as well as near constant military production. It's not hard to do, you just need to have set goals in colonial. | |

i think you'll find that the standard 14 age up strats in FP TAD aren't as OP as they are in NILLA. russia has to age with 17 now to be as effective because of the new balance of things. however , the17 villie up is just too dam slow and you'll be shutdown by any good player. wrath in regards to your strat. i would suggest only collecting gold if you're going muskets otherwise focus on stret and villie production. i usually move a villager or 2 over to gold in anticipation of sending the 700 gold crate, so all up i have the exact amount to age when the crate is collected. early wood treasures make a huge difference. and remember not to kill hunts in the middle of the map because the enemy will see the dead animals (why does everyone do this!) | |

I've done 17 villager age ups against a few of the top players here and won. You're best off not "rushing" at this point and just containing. Just let your opponent run dry on natural resources. Even most the top ESO players agree it is stronger in most cases, but you are right, they aren't too strong on this patch. What the 17 villager age up does is negate Russia's weakness to cavalry. In one of my games posted I had 10 cossacks and 5 muskets out, by the time the opponent has 10 hussars out. It's not to say you should 17 villager age up vs every civ, there's quite a few I wouldn't do it against., but it is an option, and it does work at higher levels of play. | |
