So, a little hesitant posting this, but why the hell not. This is to my knowledge the first Mac VOD posted here, so you guys can get a look at how we play on Gameranger. This is a match between Magnificent and I. We are 2 of the top players on Gameranger, and we both have improved quite fast over the past few months. Anyways Here's the VOD, I'm hoping it'll be a stepping stone for those new to Sioux, and help to improve gameplay on Gameranger, as well as our counterpart at ESO. Anyways I hop you enjoy the VOD. Hey icourt i have a couple question about that. When i was playing it, it stopped right after your five axes killed his herding villy and didnt go on, i dont think thats supposed to happen. where did you get the map and resource menu layout? becuase mine looks different and i got the update for it. And the last thing is why does it say right left left left. When you click on something? | |

The video should play all the way through. You just may need to click refresh or maybe try again later. Blip.tv servers kinda go up and down, so trying again later maybe your best solution. The user interface I'm using can be found at AOE3 Heaven under Qazitory's Mods. It's based off Ekanta's UI, though I find it a bit easier to navigate. Both UI's follow ESO rules and regulations, and are allowed to be used in competitive play. As for the VOD program, I used Screenium which allows you to show not only your mouse actions, but as well as how many clicks you take. So every time you see right/left pop up, that the mouse action I'm doing at that time. | |

who said sioux is UP? who said it's weak? i've read some experts posting sioux is one of the best civ in FP. Here is the translation of the post by roadofhope. Sioux: strong as always. a sioux in one side and not in the other side could be unbalanced. Even though it has been nerfed, the charactersitics are not changed . 1. you can choose where to fight 2. once you got massed army, you won't lose much Still OP if you don't slow BR down or something. Some says that Sioux is now weak because the ability of raiding villies got nerfed, but considering the fact that you have to garrison them if raided, the harrasing ability is still strongest. Naturally you can have enough food that fire dance with BB dogsoldier in age3 is ecstatically strong. it would be too unfair to have sioux walled cause Sioux with walls by the ally is untouchably strong.
I'm still learning, but BR is REALLLLLLLY strong. you can raid, can antiraid, defend, attack, attack musks, attack a bit of skirms, can siege like opri, can break artillery like crazy, and so on. far better than zambs because of the lag and poor micro skills :-) | |

I guess when people say a Civ is UP its because they compare it to other Civs and their abilities and compared to most other Civs they just suck. Ive seen some videos, the guy goes pure BR both times, also with some shipment aid (cetan and clubs) and he gets wtfpwned by pure ashi or in another game by sepoys. They have some Big weaknesses, in a teamgame you can may hide behind your allies with them and they are pretty good, especially for BR to kill cav but alone they are wankstas compared to other civs. IMO. if you disagree, swallow it. cheers Love | |

Try playing them 1v1 in FP. They are very very hard to win with, rather than hard to play. They have trouble amassing a very strong early military, mostly because you are forced to cavalry start or FF. This is due to Cetan having a hard time vs musket units until they get massed, similar to Aenna or Longbows, but slower speed and only the range of crossbowmen, so no hit and run. What you will face more often than not are HI rushes that disregard your cav army and go for your economy (remember you don't get much spare wood or minute men with Sioux). Bow riders still lose cost effectively to muskets, even though they do much better against them than say cavalry archers, but the fact remains, if they don't waste their units, they will effectively out eco you because you will have to defend your town. The other situations are civilizations like Japan and Dutch, which are nearly unraidable, and have a far superior army and/or economy. It's not that they are unplayable, I clearly show that in my VOD, but the fact they have no good counter to heavy infantry in age 2 makes them difficult to win with. You can ask Borgie, who had the same thinking you did, on paper Sioux has everything they need to win in colonial, but they just can't, or not gracefully. I showed him a BB rush or a 10/10 can just stop Sioux dead in their tracks. You maybe thinking about the Evening Star Card, but again the problem is, most those civs are hitting you too early to get a good number of axe riders out, or they can quickly change to light infantry. Rifle riders fall insanely quick to their counters, it's a shame for such a unique unit. Most the experts at Age Sanctuary believe Sioux to be under powered. You read the forums at AOE3H, and the players aren't near as good, though slightly better than us. I'm actually going to look for that topic because I remember reading it, and he makes some strong arguments. Problem is they don't really work in game. On paper, cetan should be beating a musket, but it's too slow and too short on range, to effectively beat them early. Now you play team games much more often, and you are right, Sioux are just plain and simply awesome in team games. They have an easy eco setup, and have great supporting roles. Enough said, anyone that plays them in team games understands how strong they are. | |

i agree with mr love, in team games theyre quite good but in 1v1 ive beaten players who are better than me (namely icourt) fairly consistently when they play sioux. the problem imo is that they dont really have much going for them, every civ sorta has something that makes them unique and good in their own way (dutch have banks, france is just OP in every way, spain has super good ff b/c fast shipments, etc), but sioux doesnt have much like that thats really significant. like mr love said; BR are really good, but 1v1 their lack of eco early on simply doesnt cut it. nearly no one plays them on eso at a competitive level, and for a reason. no offense icourt, but that game you vodded was sorta a fail on my part not to mention, they are very weak to the top civs just by MU; for example, they didnt fare well vs france, japan, dutch, or india even when they were decent (pre FP, i think). those are the most used civs atm, so in 1v1s its hard to do very well as them. | |

Exactly, they aren't impossible to play like I said. Actually their fairly easy to play, the eco setup is fairly similar to ottomans. It's winning with them that's very hard to do. | |

My fovorite Strategy is age3 axe ff, because they are pretty strong. Do like usual: 400 wood age up, 700 coin card. build a stable and a war hut ( look for wood treasuries). Go the 4 Axe Fortress Age up, move some vills on wood to get about 200. while aging try to pump 4-5 additional axe riders. As soon as you hit fortress, get the uppgrade in the stable and send 9 wakinas (against mass of muskets or pikes). You also need the 5 and 4 axe rider cards. Your enemy probably will push and try to get your warhut down, as soon as wakinas are sent out try to conter it. As soon as your enemy is atacking your wakinas, send the axe riders. they kill muskets in melee, when the muskets are not meleeing your cav. Upgraded they are also useful against other cav units. | |

normally i win that matchup, regardless of my civ haha (your other civs > mine though, so its all good :))
